If you are too ill to attend surgery, you may request a doctor to call. The doctor may phone you back and ask you to attend surgery if this appears more appropriate for your condition. We appreciate that illness cannot be timed but for non-urgent home visits please telephone before 10.00am so that visits can be planned.
If the problem is urgent please make this clear to the receptionist and you will be dealt with immediately. Please consider requests for home visits carefully. It is much easier for the doctor to see and examine you in surgery. Remember that in the time it takes to do one visit the doctor could see three or four people at surgery. If you are unsure whether you need a visit we are happy to advise you. Home visits are usually restricted to the terminally ill, the elderly, housebound patients and those who are seriously ill. Children are unlikely to come to harm on their way to surgery if they are adequately clothed.
